Dear Friends :

We would like to invite you to participate in the “ Concert for Cyclone Victims of Bangladesh“, a charity show organized by the Bangladeshis living in Sacramento and Agami, a US non-profit  501(c(3)) corporation on January 26, 2008.

Human Tragedy of Immense Proportion Unfolding : Bangladesh’s coastal area was devastated by a Category 4 cyclone in November, 2007 that struck with winds of 150mph and left more than 3,000 dead, 900 missing, and 40,000 injured.  Crops were damaged on more than 2 million acres of land, more than 1.25 million livestock were killed.  A human tragedy is unfolding in one of the poorest nation of the world as more than 8 million people were affected by this devastating cyclone.  Read more here:

Your Help is Needed : Remember the song: ” There comes a time/When we heed a certain call /When the world must come together as one/ There are people dying/ And it’s time to lend a hand to life /The greatest gift of all …..  We are the world, We are the children, We are the ones who make a brighter day, So let’s start giving ( click here to see Youtube Video of the song)

Multi-national Event :  In the spirit of “the world must come together..”, we are making this event a multi-national event where performers from different countries, including children, will perform.  We are inviting selected dance academies and community groups in our area to perform 10-15 minutes each for a total show time of 90 minutes.  So far, we have received confirmation from Bangladeshi, Indian, Iranian, Thai, and US performers.  We are expecting each group will rehearse independently.

Dazzling Show :  We will coordinate with all the groups and put together the final show.  We have conducted shows in Sacramento in the past 3 years, that have been covered by Sacramento Bee and have been broadcast worldwide by Bangladeshi TV channels.  You can visit www.anandamelahome.organd click on the Memory Lane section in the left panel.  This show will be mostly dances and songs.  We have reserved a professional theater (Natomas High School Theater) for this show.

Proceeds :  All proceeds after expenses will be sent directly to Bangladesh cyclone victims.  Our partner, AGAMI, is a US non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation with zero overhead so that all funds directly benefit the victims.  Please visit Agami web site  to see its programs.  Your donation will be tax deductible.
